Don Deforest Passing

I was very saddened this morning to learn that our Car Community has lost another friend - Don Deforest - Don was such a nice guy and I always enjoyed talking with him at different shows and seeing his and Donna's gorgeous Dodge Charger. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Donna, Kaitlyn, Dave and their family ♥

Passing of Alan Enns

I just received devastating news. My longtime friend and fellow passionate car guy, Alan Enns, passed away last night after a courageous battle with cancer. Alan and I have been friends since my early days in Campbell River. I always enjoyed our telephone conversations and our visits at his home in Campbell River. Alan was a great supporter of the vihr.ca website and contributed photos and other nostalgia from Van Isle Dragways for the Van Isle Facebook group. I would like to express my sincere condolences to Alan’s wife Lori and his daughters. Alan was a great guy and will be deeply missed. RIP my friend. ❤

Cameron's Birthday Meet

**** Event Cancelled due to Cameron not feeling well. ****

We are reaching out to people we know that have vintage, cool or just plain weird and unusual cars. Cameron is a huge car lover - like really huge !! And he loves his own 1995 Trans Am. In the last 4 weeks our 20 year old son, brother and friend Cameron has been diagnosed with Osteosarcoma and has started Chemotherapy. The same cancer Terry Fox had 40 years ago. Cameron’s 21st birthday is on November 18th and we are trying to organize some kind of car meet for car lovers and enthusiasts. This is not a fund raiser event, we just want to get people who love cars together as much as Cameron does. We just want him to feel happy because he’s just started chemo and it sucks. As his Mom, I’d do anything to make my son happy. If there is anyone from this car community that would come out and make his birthday special, it would be so appreciated.

Keep in mind this event is meant to be a surprise for Cameron.

**** Event Cancelled due to Cameron not feeling well. ****

We are looking to have a Car Meet at the Neighbourhood Church at 4951 Rutherford Road, Nanaimo on Sat Nov 18, thinking around 3:00 to 5:00. We realize you may not drive your car this time of year but we are trying to reach out to as many people as we can. Please share this post with anyone who could bring a vehicle even if they don’t know Cameron

Java Jo's

I was saddened to hear the announcement that the cruises at Java Jo's will be coming to an end. For the past several years I have enjoyed going to Java Jo's for the regular cruises as well as the Canadian Graffiti nights. There is one last cruise coming up on Saturday, September 23rd. Hopefully everyone will come out and show their support to Jolanda and to thank her for everything she has done for the car culture in Victoria. We wish her well in her new location to be announced in the coming months.
